Famous New Zealanders

This term Room 8 have been learning about Famous New Zealanders. As a class we decided to focus on two well known New Zealanders that we have a connection to. We chose Margaret Mahy- a well known New Zealand author who writes books for children and adults. The second New Zealander we researched was Sir Edmund Hillary, a very famous New Zealander who was the first person in the world to reach the Summit of Mt Everest. As a class we wanted to research Sir Edmund Hillary and to find out more about why he is on our $5.00 note.
The research has been presented in the form of a report and as an interview. The children focused on what these people are famous for, why they are famous, personal background, career and success.

Tune in and listen to some very informative podcasts.
