2013 Reflections

In 2013, I was in Room 8.  We did art, swimming, maths, reading, writing, PE and topic study. out of all of them, maths is my favourite  subject. We went on trips to different places. I enjoyed the trip to the zoo most of all.

I did e- learning. E- learning is when I do learning from the computer like using the internet to go onto google docs to type my story. I loved learning on the computer.

I went to the Matatriki Ball and we danced a lot. Four children were crowned King and Queen from the juniors and the seniors.

I went for the Inter schools Tournament and did long jump,100 mtr running and discus. I came 1st in discus, 2nd in long jump and 4th in the running. I also did house sports.

The prize giving was cool. At the end of the prize giving we sang a farewell song to the Yr 8 students.

I want to say Thank you to Mrs Moopanar fro teaching me for two years. I am glad that she was my teacher. Thank yo for all the stuff you did for me.

I created a 3D (stuffed with newspaper) fish for the Rotary Xmas function.

First I drew my fish on white paper. Then I cut it up. Next I painted it. Thereafter I added some glitter to make it pretty. Finally I stuffed it with newspaper.

My 3D fish looked beautiful!

Maara's Painting

Transport painting:
First I did three sketches of different types of transport and I chose my favourite one to paint. Next I drew my design onto a piece of card then I went over the outlines in vivid ready to paint. I then had to rub out the left over pencil lines and started painting. :)

Printmaking

I created this print by making the image on a block using card. Then I rolled an even coat of ink over the surface and placed paper over the block applying pressure using my hands and a roller to transfer the print.

How to make porotaka

To make a porotaka I used two strips of flax at least 30 centimetres long.
The strips were both the same width.
First I folded strip A.
Then I placed strip B inside the fold of strip A.
Next I weaved strip B around strip A.
Thereafter I pulled the four ends tightly to form a square.
Then I trimmed the blades so they are all the same length.
Finally when I finished making my porotaka, I pinned it to a stick.

How to make porotiti.

First I cut a circular piece of thick cardboard about the size of a coffee cup.
Then I designed my circular piece of cardboard using different coloured crayons.
Next I pierced two holes in the centre of the cardboard circle about 1 centimetre apart.
Thereafter I threaded a piece of string through the holes. I tied the ends together into a sturdy knot, creating a large hoop.

Animal pollinated flowers

They have large, brightly coloured petals to attract insects.
They are sweetly scented and contain nectar to attract insects.
The pollen is sticky to stick to insects.
The anthers are firm and inside the flower to brush against insects.
The stigma is inside the flower so that the insect brushes against it.
