Popcorn Recipe
Would you like to know how Room 8 students made popcorn for our shared lunch?
The ingredients we used were:
Oil Popcorn seeds
Salt
The Method we used was:
1 We heated the oil
in a pot.
2 We then put 3 or 4
popcorn seeds into the oil and covered the pot.
3 When the
seeds popped, we added the rest of the popcorn seeds in an even layer.
4 Once the
popping started we gently shook the pot. We kept the lid slightly open to let
the steam from the popcorn escape. Once the popping slowed down we removed the pot from
the heat, removed the lid, and put the popcorn into a wide bowl.
5 We then added salt to taste.
IT WAS YUMMY!

Wind pollinated flowers
The flowers are small.
The pistils are feathery.
The grains of pollen are light.
The stamens are long.
The flowers produce no nectar.

How do plants grow?
The plant starts off as a seed.
Inside the seed is the embryo.
The embryo turns into a seedling and then into the plant.
Flowers produce seeds before they die.
When seeds reach the ground new plants grow.
Animal pollinated flowers
They
have large, brightly coloured petals to attract insects.
|
They are sweetly
scented and contain nectar to attract insects.
The pollen is sticky
to stick to insects.
The anthers are firm
and inside the flower to brush against insects.
The stigma is inside
the flower so that the insect brushes against it.
