A good use for cobwebs

Have you ever had a story called “A good use for a cobwebs?”

A long time on a stranded island called Hawiaki their lived a giant bird called Matuku who ate everyone when they crossed past his cave and used their bones to build his fence. Matuku captured an old warrior called Wahieroa and the servants. Wahieroa’s son, Rata promised to capture Matuku to stop him from eating people that went past his cave.

Rata’s spider made a net out of cobweb to capture Matuku. When Matuku came out of his cave Rata captured Matuku. They cooked Matuku, ate him and used his bones to complete his fence. They also freed the servants.

The Sun and the Tornado

Have you ever heard of a story called “The Sun and the Tornado”.

Long ago the Tornado and Sun were having an argument about who was stronger.

One day there was a storm coming. The Tornado said, “I am stronger than you” to the Sun. An old lady was walking down the street the tornado tried to take off the lady’s jacket by blowing hard but she held on to her jacket tightly. So the sun had a try and the lady got hot and took off her jacket off .

The argument was settled once and for all. The sun proved to be stronger than the tornado.

The wind and the sun

This is a narrative of "The Wind and the Sun" retold by John.

A trip to the Airport

Yay! We were going off to the Auckland Airport. The students from Rooms 7, 8 and 9 of Glenbrae School travelled by bus to the airport. We went there to learn about Jean Batten and Air.

A lady called Barbara and took us to around and she gave us flags so that we could wave the flag up in case we were lost. Then we stood up and followed Barbara around the airport. Next we saw a board and it said what time do we go and when do we go. After that we saw Jean Batten’s plane.

Suddenly there was a fire alarm and we had to evacuate the building. We then got back to school. I enjoyed my visit to the airport and I learnt a lot about air.

A trip to the Airport

Yay! On Wednesday 22 June 2011 Room 8,7,9 students form Glenbrae School went to the airport to learn about air. We went by bus to the airport.

When we got there we wrote down  some facts about Jean Batten from the white boards. We went up an escalator to get a better view of Jean Batten’s plane which we drew.

We then went back to school by bus. It was fun at the airport and I learnt many facts about flights and Jean Batten.
