Welcome to Mafoa

Room 8 welcomes Mafoa who was in Room 9 last term.

A car

A car is something that people use to drive to places.

 It has got an engine to help it move.It has back wheels to move and front wheels to turn. An automatic car changes the gears on its own, but a manual car is a car that is hard to drive and to understand how to change the gears sometimes. An automatic car is very different from a manual car and an automatic car uses what an engine to change its gears. Deep inside the engine is something which look like legs but they are not legs. They are things which is called clutches and brakes.

 A car has four windows, four wheels and four doors. Some examples of cars are muscle cars, monster trucks and fast cars and normal cars. Some cars also have roofs and some cars do not have any roofs. Some cars have roofs for winter like 4x4 cars which are strong cars for winter.

 Without cars it will be really difficult for us to move around.

Visit to Stardome

On Thursday 9 May 2013 the students, staff and parent helpers from Room 8 of Glenbrae School, went on a trip to Stardome by bus to learn about "The perfect little planet". 

The session began with the feature show of our choice. This was followed by a brief educator-led night sky presentation demonstrating the stars, Moon and planets visible from Auckland on the night of our visit. Thereafter we explored the foyer display area. Our visit concluded with a classroom session.

 We really enjoyed ourselves at Stardome and learnt a lot about the Earth, Moon, Sun Movement and the Solar System.
