2013 Reflections

Room 8 was my class for 2013 and it is the best class!

In my class we did a lot of art and craft. I got to draw a lot of pictures. We used  art pencils, paints, pastels and crayons. I enjoyed working with the paints.

We went on several trips. I liked the trip to the Stardome where we learnt about the planets and how the moon goes around.

I loved the swimming because its was so cool to be in the cold water! it is also a good sport for all ages.

I liked the maths that we did in class. We learnt equations, division, times tables and take a ways! I love take a ways (food)!!

Thank you Mrs Moopanar for teaching us. I loved having you as my class Teacher. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to you.

3 D Fish

I created a 3D (stuffed with newspaper) fish for the Rotary Xmas function.

First, I drew my fish on white paper. Then I cut it up. Next I painted it. Thereafter I added some glitter to make it pretty. Finally I stuffed it with newspaper.

My 3D fish looked beautiful!

Cherise's Painting

Transport painting:
To create this painting I first did some rough sketches of different forms of transport and I chose my favourite one to paint. I drew the design onto cardboard and went over the lines in vivid. I made sure to erase all pencil lines before I started painting this is because pencil can show through the paint. Ie then painted our transport designs.

What is the difference between an old steam train and a new electric train?

This is the information that Rata house has researched and the poster that Rata house has created for our Guided inquiry learning.

Printmaking

I created this print by making the image on a block using card. Then I rolled an even coat of ink over the surface and placed paper over the block applying pressure using my hands and a roller to transfer the print.

How to make porotaka

To make a porotaka I used two strips of flax at least 30 centimetres long.
The strips were both the same width.
First I folded strip A.
Then I placed strip B inside the fold of strip A.
Next I weaved strip B around strip A.
Thereafter I pulled the four ends tightly to form a square.
Then I trimmed the blades so they are all the same length.
Finally when I finished making my porotaka, I pinned it to a stick.

How to make porotiti

First I cut a circular piece of thick cardboard about the size of a coffee cup.
Then I designed my circular piece of cardboard using different coloured crayons.
Next I pierced two holes in the centre of the cardboard circle about 1 centimetre apart.
Thereafter I threaded a piece of string through the holes. I tied the ends together into a sturdy knot, creating a large hoop.

A strip of Aotearoa

Firstly I drew the sky, mountain, river, land and sea on a strip of paper using a pencil.  I then used a vivid to go over my drawing. Finally I dyed the strip using a paintbrush and different coloured dyes.

My treasure.

My treasure is a box.

Animal pollinated flowers

They have large, brightly coloured petals to attract insects.
They are sweetly scented and contain nectar to attract insects.
The pollen is sticky to stick to insects.
The anthers are firm and inside the flower to brush against insects.
The stigma is inside the flower so that the insect brushes against it.
