ANZAC poppy

To make my poppy I used the following steps:

First I coloured in my poppy head in bright red.
Next I cut out the centre of the poppy. Once finished I bent it up.
Then I attached the poppy head to a green strip of paper through centre of the poppy.
Finally I cut out the small centre of the poppy and glued it on the top.

Kiwican: Term 2, Week 1

Our theme for this term is Integrity and our topic for today for this week was on "Honesty."

First we did an energiser which was called "Tag the rabbit". Then we spoke about our learning intention which was to understand that we need to ask questions and think about other peoples' stories to find the whole truth. Our catch phrase was Kiwi can says: "Honesty is the best policy." We then did an activity called "Wink Game" where we had to act out a scene about being honest.

Finally we had a general knowledge quiz. We learnt a lot about co operation from Kiwi Can today.

Butterfly Creek

Room 8 visited Butterfly Creek in Term 1 to view the Dinosaur Park which was part of our Topic Studies last term. We created a movie to share our experiences at Butterfly Creek.

Each class came and sit at front  of school in designated area. Teachers selected children from each class to
carry crosses. We then sang Te Honore.
Next Miss Elia briefly spoke about the  purpose of the ceremony and introduced Geoff Cox from RSA. Geoff Cox spoke to us about ANZAC Day.

Thereafter the children from each class in turn placed crosses  helped by Senior Students. Then we all did a reading of Lest we Forget. Mrs Adcock played The Last Post. Finally we all silently filed back to class after The Last Post.

Art Show

On the 23rd of March, room 8 attended an art show. They used dance and music to create a comedy show we all enjoyed. We got to join in and learned that we all have something special inside of us, and that we are all different.
