To make a porotaka you will need two strips of flax at least 30 centimetres
long.
The strips should both be the same width.
First fold strip A.
Next place strip B inside the fold of strip A.
Then weave strip B around strip A.
Thereafter pull the four ends tightly to form a square.
Finally trim the blades so they are all the same length.
When you have finished making your porotaka, you could nail
or pin it to a stick.
